Merkle Wins Three Philadelphia Direct Marketing Association “Benny” Awards
COLUMBIA, Md., June 17, 2009 — Merkle (www.merkleinc.com), one of the nation’s largest and fastest growing database marketing agencies, was recently honored with three 2009 “Benjamin Franklin Awards for Direct Marketing Excellence”, or “Bennies”, by the Philadelphia Direct Marketing Association. The awards were presented during a ceremony at the Farmhouse at People’s Light in Malvern, Pa. on June 4, 2009.
The Benny competition has been a Philadelphia-area tradition for over 35 years. Experts from the Direct Marketing Association of Washington judged submissions among categories that included direct mail, Internet, multi-media, broadcast TV and print. Entries are accepted from individuals and agencies alike, and membership in the PDMA is not required. This year, the PDMA received more than 65 submissions for direct marketing work that took place during 2008.
Merkle took home three Benny awards for its work with clients Bank of America, Corporate Express and Volkswagen. The winning campaigns included the following:
* First Place: “Bank of America – Super Prime Acquisition” – Direct Mail, Acquisition to Existing Customer Category,
* First Place (tie): “Corporate Express EMOB Communications” – Direct Mail, Acquisition – Offer to Purchase Category, and
* First Place: “Volkswagen TDI Clean Diesel Launch” – Direct Mail, Creative Only Category.
Merkle Executive Vice President and Agency Group Leader Michael Mathias commented, “We are excited to have been honored as the only agency to win three Bennies this year. We submitted only four entries for consideration and our team walked away with three awards. I think that is a noteworthy accomplishment for Merkle’s creative and agency talent, which did an amazing job of meeting each client’s vision and goals throughout the past year. Each of the winning campaigns was visually impressive and the innovative copy had a direct impact on the targeted market. Combined together, these elements achieved great results for the clients.”
