
As FundRaising Success gears up for the ninth annual Gold Awards for Fundraising Excellence, take a look back at the 2012 Special Events Campaigns of the Year from MIND Research Institute and Avow Hospice, both of which took home gold, as well as the Lions Eye Institute for Transplant & Research, which took home silver.
The MIND Research Institute's Calling All Superheroes Awards Gala was a huge hit, generating $448,000 overall at a cost to raise a dollar of 4 cents and an average gift of $5,600. Avow Hospice's 2011 Butterfly Weekend brought in nearly $123,000 with an average gift of $275 and a cost to raise a dollar of 25 cents.
Meanwhile, the Lions Eye Institute's Eye Ball Gala, which had all expenses covered by sponsors, generated $185,000. Talk about successful events.

Then, get your submissions ready for the 2014 Gold Awards. The deadline is Aug. 22. For an entry to be eligible, the campaign must have taken place sometime between Jan. 1, 2013, and Dec. 31, 2013.
Download the entry form here. There is a $125 entry fee for the first entry from a company and/or nonprofit organization, and each additional entry costs $75 apiece.
Each entry must be submitted individually and be accompanied by its own entry form, tracking sheet and check. Please submit two copies of each entry.
