Blackbaud Opens Office in Mexico to Better Serve Nonprofits in Latin America

Blackbaud announced the opening of an office in Mexico City, a new local team, and a reseller agreement with EXITE.TI to support the growing Latin American philanthropic sector.

Blackbaud has been investing in the region since the introduction of eTapestry Español, its first Spanish-language software, in 2010. With this new partnership, EXITE.TI will handle the sales and support of Blackbaud products in Mexico, including eTapestry Español, a web-delivered Spanish-language fundraising and CRM solution designed for small to mid-sized nonprofits to help them fundraise and manage relationships with their constituents.

Engagement focus of mobile technology for nonprofits

Fewer nonprofits are using text-to-give fundraising technology, while more are turning to mobile Web-based media, with constituent-engagement emerging as the main motivation for nonprofits to launch mobile programs, a new report says.

Forty-seven percent of nonprofits using mobile media do not use it for fundraising, and as many as 50 percent of fundraisers say they are wary of early mobile-giving results, says New Directions, a report by Kaptivate and the Association of Fundraising Professionals based on a 2011 survey of 233 organizations.

Charities Experiment With Ways to Train Fundraisers

As more and more nonprofits are stepping up training of fundraisers, they are finding low-cost yet effective ways to improve the skills of their staff members.

At Berea College, in Kentucky, for example, Bill Laramee, vice president for alumni and college relations, says a monthlong course he teaches about philanthropy helped train and recruit several fundraisers, including two development officers who now work on Berea’s annual fund. The course, consisting of daily classes, covers the philosophical underpinnings of charity and ethical issues related to fundraising.
