Who Are Your Fundraising Heroes?
We know you're gearing up for that big end-of-year push, but before you jump in, why not give some thought to the professionals you work with and consider nominating someone for the 2011 FundRaising Success Fundraising Professionals of the Year Awards?
Each year, we honor folks in the fundraising sector whose passion and dedication are so strong that they merit special recognition — not only in appreciation for the work they do but also so they can be examples for others in the sector.
There will be plenty more information about the FOTY awards appearing in the coming weeks and months, but we did want to get you started thinking about it.
There's no fee to nominate someone, and the application process couldn't be easier. Simply send an e-mail to me at firstname.lastname@example.org, with the subject line "FOTY Nomination."
In it, please include your name and contact information; the nominee's name, title, organization, phone number and e-mail address; along with a detailed explanation of why you're making the nomination (500 to 1,000 words, please). If possible, a digital headshot of the nominee would be great. Also, let us know into which of these categories you're entering the nominee:
- Lifetime Achievement — Based on a body of work over the course of 30+ years.
- Fundraising Professional of the Year — Based on a specific fundraising achievement in 2010
- Fundraising Stars — Based on a body of work, a compelling project or special circumstance, an overall attitude or approach, etc.
- Rising Stars — Up-and-comers with fewer than five years in the sector.
The deadline for making nominations is Dec. 17. Winners will be announced in the February 2011 issue of the magazine. Need some inspiration? Check out the 2010, 2009, 2008 and 2007 winners.
Nominees can work for nonprofit organizations, agencies/consultancies or service/technology providers. And, yes, you can nominate yourself!
