The 2013 Charitable Giving Report by Blackbaud, which gathered giving data from 4,129 nonprofit organizations representing $12.5 billion in total fundraising in 2013, reveals that the fundraising sector saw the largest increase in year-over-year giving in 2013 since the Great Recession.
For more details on the report, Blackbaud provided this nifty infographic:
Take note of the four strategies to drive giving throughout the year at the bottom:
- Run campaigns around organizational milestones such as an anniversary.
- Test major campaigns earlier in the year — don't place all your best on year-end.
- Implement a monthly giving program.
- Go where other organizations aren't — for instance, the mailbox is less crowded at other times of the year, whereas direct mail picks up at year-end.
