Troy, Michigan, August 25, 2009 — The Kresge Foundation’s grantmaking continues to seek a balance between responding to the immediate hardships arising from the economic downturn and the longer-term challenges of addressing enduring social, environmental, and economic problems. At its second-quarter board meeting in June, Trustees awarded 73 grants totaling $26 million for nonprofit organizations in 23 states, the District of Columbia, and Ireland.

SAN FRANCISCO, April 15, 2009 — The Salesforce.com Foundation, the global leader in integrating philanthropy and business, today announced its 2009 grantees in celebration of salesforce.com and the Foundation's 10 year anniversary. A total of $235,000 in grants has been awarded to organizations globally, including Goodwill Industries of San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin Counties, Micromentor and World Toilet Organization. For the first time, the winning organizations were voted on by salesforce.com employees using the company's own deployment of Salesforce CRM Ideas, the world's first cloud computing application that enables the wisdom of crowds to drive innovation.

Since 2001, …For A Cause, and its forerunner, Ride For A Cause, has been organizing cycling and walking events to raise money for charities that focus on AIDS and breast cancer issues. But that is not their only focus; they also encourage their participants to choose an additional beneficiary. This can be any non-profit organization that is meaningful to the participant. Some past participant beneficiaries have included the National Kidney Foundation, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, and the National Autism Foundation, just to name a few.
