City Year

The parent company of the NBA's San Antonio Spurs has announced a partnership to help bring City Year to four East Side schools in the San Antonio Independent School District.

City Year is a nonprofit that places young people in schools and community programs for a year of full-time public service.

In SAISD, they will work primarily to prevent dropouts and boost lagging attendance by calling the families of absent students, developing a rapport with students and creating a positive school-going culture.

DUBLIN, Ohio, October 14, 2009 — During Cardinal Health's two-week campaign to encourage employees to give back to their communities, employees donated more than $2 million to local non-profit organizations, and more than 1,600 employees at 71 sites worldwide donated more than 2,800 hours of service through hundreds of volunteer service projects.

Milwaukee, July 16, 2009 — A grant to establish a new central access system for the homeless in Milwaukee was among the more than $4 million approved by the Greater Milwaukee Foundation Board and boards of its supporting organizations during the second quarter.
