On the day after Christmas, Nike Inc. Chairman Phil Knight transferred 1.4 million of the company’s powerful Class A shares to a nonprofit foundation, according to a financial filing made public late Friday afternoon. The nonprofit wasn’t identified in the federal Securities & Exchange Commission filing, though it was described as a charitable foundation in which Knight, who is also Nike’s co-founder, is a trustee.
