June 15, 2009, Tech Crunch — A coalition of non-profit organizations, technology developers, designers, marketers and others has unveiled the alpha version of a new Web service dubbed All for Good in an effort to build some sort of ‘Craigslist for volunteer services’. The metaphor stands, and not only because Craig Newmark from the popular free classifieds service is one of the backers of the project (Arianna Huffington of the Huffington Post is also said to be on board).

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, June 1, 2009 — Craigslist Foundation announces its 6th annual Boot Camp for nonprofit organizations and individuals interested in making a difference in their communities nationwide. It will be held on Saturday, June 20th, 2009, on the University of California, Berkeley campus. This year, the all-day program focuses on skills for connecting, motivating and inspiring greater community involvement and impact. Boot Camp '09 will place a special emphasis on community-building and the opportunities for collaboration among individuals, businesses, government, philanthropists, and nonprofits. Boot Camp precedes the 2009 National Conference on Volunteering & Service, in San Francisco.

Today, the Phoenix-based Lodestar Foundation and Arizona-Indiana-Michigan (AIM) Alliance presented a $250,000 national award as the first-ever Collaboration Prize to two groups — the Museum of Nature & Science in Dallas, Texas and the YMCA & JCC of Greater Toledo — at a luncheon ceremony in Scottsdale, AZ. Originally intended as a $250,000 award to one winner, the contest resulted in a tie, with each winner taking home $125,000.
