Report: Ultra Wealthy Population Accounts for Combined Net Worth Twice the Size of the US Economy

Altrata, a company offering intelligence on the wealthy and well-connected, releases the World Ultra Wealth Report 2025, examining the global UHNW population, those with more than $30 million in net worth.

The report, in its 13th year, finds that the global ultra high net worth (UHNW) population totaled 510,810 individuals at the end of June 2025. This is a rise of 5.4% from the beginning of the year, following a very robust expansion of 12% in 2024 – the third-strongest growth in the past decade.

The total net worth of the UHNW class rose by 6.7% to $59.8 trillion at the end of June 2025, equivalent to double the annual GDP of the US.

Key findings from the World Ultra Wealth Report 2025

• The ultra wealthy make up just 1% of the global millionaire population yet hold 32% of this group's total wealth.
• By 2030, Altrata forecasts the global ultra wealthy population will grow to 676,970 individuals, up by 31% from H1 2025 and an increase of 166,160 people.
• Asia is expected to see the strongest growth in its UHNW population, but North America will remain the largest ultra wealth region by far.
• There will be outsized UHNW growth in India. It has four of the top ten growth cities, including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Delhi.

• $290 billion in luxury goods spending, representing 21% of all luxury goods spend by individuals
• $207 billion in donations to philanthropic causes , accounting for 36% of all individual giving worldwide
• $30 trillion in investable assets , equivalent to 10% of investable assets globally

The Future of Change in the Ultra Wealthy Population

The composition of today's UHNW population is dominated by the Baby Boomer generation – those born between 1946 and 1964 – which comprises a 45% share. This is set to change dramatically as the 'Great Wealth Transfer' brings a huge redistribution of global wealth.

Within the next 15 years, younger generations will account for the majority of the world's UHNW population, with Millennials and Gen Z growing from just 8% today to nearly 35% by 2040.
