Share the Spotlight
The deadline for the 2013 Gold Awards for Fundraising Excellence is closing in on us. Your entries need to be in our hot little hands no later than Aug. 26.
Don't forget that anyone can submit a package or campaign for consideration. For you agency folks out there, this is a great opportunity to shine a much deserved light on the organizations you partner with to do such important work.
My colleague, Caroline Farley, FundRaising Success' associate publisher, recently sent an e-mail to some of the agencies that serve the sector, reminding them of just that fact. In it, she writes: "I wanted to take a minute to … really stress what an opportunity this is for you to garner some recognition — not only for your hard work but, even more importantly, for the organizations that your hard work supports.
"As you know, fundraisers even in the largest nonprofits pretty much exist behind the scenes, and then even their best efforts sometimes seem like just another wheel in the machine," she goes on. "But we all know what an integral part these campaigns and packages play in the overall success of the organization. Won't you take this opportunity to shed some light on the efforts made by your client organizations? I'm sure they would appreciate the recognition, as well as the chance to share their best work — as well as yours — with their colleagues."
