Giving Tuesday Fundraising Thank-You to St. Baldrick's Foundation
Back in October, the St. Baldrick's Foundation, which raises money to support research for childhood cancer treatments, was kind enough to present and share its peer-to-peer fundraising story at FundRaising Success' inaugural Engage P2P: Redefining Peer-to-Peer conference.
The organization put on a wonderful presentation, along with all our other presenters, and shared the emotional, uplifting and amazing experiences the organization has witnessed firsthand through peer-to-peer interaction.
Personally, cancer has affected my life directly in the past few years. First, my grandfather passed away from pancreatic cancer, and just this year, doctors found a malignant tumor on my father's kidney. Thankfully, the tumor was removed and my dad is in good health at the moment, but that doesn't make the prospects of this disease that touches so many any less frightening.
While neither my grandfather nor father were children when they were diagnosed, the threat of cancer, particularly in young people, is something no one should face alone. So as a special thank-you to St. Baldrick's for participating in our conference and for all the great work the organization does, in addition to the personal nature of cancer organizations, I volunteered to start a fundraising campaign for St. Baldrick's … and participate in shaving my head for the cause.
Seeing as it's Giving Tuesday, there's no time like the present to show off how I went from a "No Shave November" wolf-man to clean-cut in a matter of minutes.
Thank you so much to St. Baldrick's for all the hard, incredible, important work you do, and thank everyone out there both raising and donating money for all the important causes to make the world a better place.
