Your homework
Try a homework assignment where you experiment with using QR codes as an engagement tool at your organization. Here are a few steps to help you in planning your experiment:
- Start by thinking about using QR codes in conjunction with an existing program (mail, ad, signage, posters in your facility, etc). Perhaps place a QR code on a participant’s event bib; put it on a gala program and link to one of your inspirational YouTube videos; or use QR codes to link people to interesting areas of your website, i.e., event directions, list of donors, staff pages, your Facebook page, etc.
- Now that you have your idea, create a QR code by visiting one of the free online QR code generators like Qurify.com mentioned above.
- Distribute that QR code, or make it available so people can scan it.
- Measure the response … how many visits, actions taken, donations made.
User behavior will play a significant role in determining how people use mobile to interact with organizations like yours. The steps above provide a road map for you to start experimenting and playing a role in discovering what works!
As a special reward for doing this homework, here is a link to a free mobile fundraising whitepaper.
I’d love to hear from you in the comments section below about any tests your organization has done with engaging supporters using QR codes. Happy experimenting!
