New Certification Program Recognizes Providers Supporting Sustainable Giving
The Center for Sustainable Giving now offers the Sustainable Giving Partner Certification to grow generosity and recognize healthy, thriving technology and service providers that enable sustainable giving.
The Sustainable Giving Partner Certification serves as a signal of capability, commitment and credibility. An objective, independently verified certification, it evaluates technology providers, agencies or advisors across the capabilities required to enable subscription-ready sustainable giving from donor experience and reporting to payment infrastructure and recurring donor strategy.
“Sustainable Giving Partner Certification is about shining a light on the providers who are doing the hard work to help nonprofits grow sustainable giving – and creating a clear standard the rest of the sector can rise to,” said Dave Raley, Founder and CEO of The Center for Sustainable Giving.
The Sustainable Giving Partner Certification process is administered by an independent third party. It includes three stages, including a certification questionnaire, guided interview and evidence review, assessing 11 distinctive capability areas unique to service providers and technology providers enabling sustainable recurring giving. Evaluation categories span strategy, donor experience, payment infrastructure, data and reporting, and organization commitment to sustainable giving, among others. Each organization that completes the certification process receives a comprehensive Sustainable Giving Readiness Report with detailed information regarding current success areas and areas for improvement.
“When I first started speaking about the opportunity for charities to grow recurring giving, I focused most of my time on helping nonprofits see that this was a trend for them, not just for someone else,” said Raley. “Today, I’m seeing more and more leaders not only recognize the trend but also believe it could be for them. They want to grow recurring giving. They're ready. That’s why we’ve developed the Sustainable Giving Certification, to help these leaders cut through the noise and identify providers who can help them grow.”
Providers that meet the sustainable giving standard and pass certifications earn the Sustainable Giving Certified Partner designation, which must be renewed annually. Each is also publicly listed in The Center for Sustainable Giving’s directory.
Several notable nonprofit providers have already completed the process to be deemed a Sustainable Giving Certified Partner, including:
- Avid – AI-Powered Donor Engagement & Fundraising Optimization
- CharityEngine – Nonprofit CRM and Fundraising Platform
- GoFundMe Pro – Donation Platform
- Share Services – Fundraising and Marketing Agency
- Virtuous Raise – Donation Platform
“A growing roster of certified partners means nonprofit leaders have more confidence when choosing the providers that will shape the future of their recurring giving program,” Raley said. “I'm grateful to each of these Sustainable Giving Certified Partners for being willing to be early – to put their work in front of an independent evaluation and help set the standard. I’m excited to say this is just the start as we are already in the certification process with others.”
