CureSearch for Children’s Cancer Partners With Kickball365
Press release (Aug. 9, 2012) — With a goal of ending children’s cancer and promoting healthy, active lifestyles, Kickball365 has named CureSearch for Children’s Cancer as its national philanthropic partner. Through this partnership, which began on August 1 and will run through the Circuit Cup Championship in November, Kickball365 will help raise awareness and funds through The Circuit, Kickball365’s national, professional tour of top-flight kickball tournaments.
Players and teams in The Circuit are invited to choose CureSearch as their charity of choice and fundraise throughout The Circuit National Tour of kickball events. Further, a portion of kickball sales sold through the Return to Recess Program will be donated to CureSearch to ensure that one day every child is guaranteed a cure.
Finally, when The Circuit culminates in November at the Circuit Cup Championship on the waterfront of New Orleans, teams will be invited to participate in a charity game prior to the championship game. This charity game will give players from across the country to step away from the competition of the day and finish The Circuit season with a good-will game designed to raise awareness of the need for a cure for children’s cancer.
“While the overall survival rate for children’s cancer has increased from 10 to 78 percent, for many types of children’s cancer the survival rate is much less,” said Erica Neufeld, vice president of Communications and Education at CureSearch. “Just as you’re never too old for kickball, it’s never too late to join in the fight against children’s cancer. We thank Kickball365 for their support and are excited to be a partner of The Circuit.”
Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease among children, with nearly 13,500 children and adolescents diagnosed with cancer each year. One out of every five children diagnosed with cancer will not survive. CureSearch for Children’s Cancer supports children’s cancer research by raising funds for National Cancer Institute sponsored clinical trials at more than 180 local hospitals in the US, and funds basic and translational research that offers the greatest potential to design treatments and improve outcomes for children with difficult-to-treat cancers.
Established in 2010, Kickball365 enables people to make friends and have fun through local kickball leagues and one-of-a-kind tournament vacation experiences. Players can join The Circuit and compete on a national level for prizes and Circuit Points.
