Of over 340,000 nonprofit organizations registered on GuideStar’s database, only 1 percent have received Platinum status—the organization’s highest level. The Colon Cancer Alliance, a nonprofit dedicated to ending colon cancer, is now one of those organizations.
According to a press release, in order to receive Platinum status, a nonprofit is required to deliver extensive information to the GuideStar Nonprofit Profile—in-depth financial information, quantitative evidence about goals, strategies and progress toward the organization’s mission.
“For [the Color Cancer Alliance], transparency is key. Our commitment to cancer prevention, cutting-edge research and providing quality patient support services drives everything we do. We want to share our successes and the impact we’re making. We’re doing meaningful work and our reputation precedes us,” Michael Sapienza, CEO of the Colon Cancer Alliance, said in the release.
