This year, the United States is the only country to be ranked in the top 10 for all three of the charitable giving behaviors covered by the World Giving Index: helping a stranger (first), volunteering time (joint fifth) and donating money (ninth), according to the Charities Aid Foundation report.
The U.S. also finished tied with Myanmar for first place in the World Giving Index. While America’s strong performance across all forms of giving contributes to its top ranking, Myanmar’s position is driven primarily by an incredibly high proportion of people donating money (91 percent).
